Developer guide

Everything you need to publish a game on Publica Games.

Format

• Upload a .zip with index.html at the root (or inside a single folder) or a single .html file.
• Limits: 200 MB total, up to 1,500 files. Allowed types: html js mjs css json png jpg jpeg webp gif svg mp3 ogg wav m4a mp4 webm glb gltf bin wasm txt xml ttf otf woff woff2 data unityweb br gz.
• Unity WebGL: Brotli (.br) and Gzip (.gz) builds work; we send the correct Content-Encoding header.

Where your game runs

Your game is served from play.publicagames.com/<your-game>/<version>/ inside a sandboxed iframe (scripts, same origin, pointer lock, fullscreen). Use relative paths.

WebXR works: the iframe has xr-spatial-tracking permission. On Meta Quest, players open the site in the Quest browser and tap Enter VR.

Optional SDK

• Not required. If you like, include <script src="https://play.publicagames.com/sdk.js"></script> and call:
• PublicaGames.gameplayStart() when a round starts; PublicaGames.gameplayStop() in menus and pauses; PublicaGames.happyTime() at a happy moment (record, win).
• Play time is measured by the portal page even without the SDK.

Review

We test every version before it goes live. New versions of a published game go live once approved; until then the previous version stays online.
